Ruby on Rails
I don't know too much about Ruby on Rails aside from walking through a few tutorials.  I guess Ruby has been around in Japan for a while, and has just recently made headway into other countries due to well translated books.  Ruby on Rails main idea is "Convention Before Configuration" meaning that instead of storing all your table mappings and the like in a configuration file somewhere, you stick to a naming convention and the language takes care of the rest for you.

This is suppose to cut development time by eliminating the need to write unnecessary lines of code.  I'm skeptical of the whole thing, but when I get some time (maybe in 10 years), I plan to sit down and really evaluate Ruby on Rails.
